Abstinence is a hard thing

So I have been abstaining from a few things the last couple of days. One is sugar, so hard to do. I did have a few bites of cake today and a 2 packages of fruit snacks yesterday, but compared to what I usually eat this is quite a minuscule amount. I'm pretty good too until about 2 o'clock then I get the munchies. I hate the munchies. They are so irritating when you're trying to be good. Thank heaven for sugar free gum. It is my newest addiction, replacing one bad thing with another.

The other thing, which is easier to do, is TV. It's easy not because I can turn it on or off at will, but because we canceled our satellite. I really have no choice. Goodbye food network, no more cake shows, hallmark channel original movies no more, discovery channel bye bye, no more going bananas for Rachel Zoe, no more Jazz games, no more college football. So sad, but it will be okay.

Now abstaining from one or the other might be completely doable, but I've decided to go cold turkey (well almost) on two things and I am freaking out. I have been addicted to TV and to sugar. There is so much more out there though to eat and to do. I find that I have a lot of free time. Reading has become a major player now. I just hope I can adjust back into normal society. If you see me and I have these weird ticks or start shouting or singing or something bizzaro just know that it's going to take a while to kick these addictions of mine. One day, hopefully soon, I'll be able to function again.
