Millcreek Canyon

Yesterday after Benji's soccer game we headed up to Millcreek Canyon. I had only been up once before for a wedding of one of my dad's cousins years ago and I've been dying to go back since, because I thought it was that pretty. Anyway, we drove up and the drive is so beautiful. The trees canopy the road and I just love the way you feel enclosed. It's also a little crazy though too because their are bikers that ride up the canyon and people walking on the side of the road and basically only room for one car sometimes or two if one pulls clear over to the side.

The leaves are still in the process of changing and you can tell the reds are pretty well done. It seems really dry to me this year, the colors not as vibrant as they have been in the past. (We could sure use some more rain and cooler temps.)

When we got up to the top we had every intention of just driving back down, but we decided to get out and go on a little hike. We headed up Old Red Pine Trail (?) and it was so sunny and hot. I felt like I was baking in an oven that we headed back down to the other trail that was connecting (Little Water Trail? really I can't remember names to save my life). It was a lot shadier, well at least for the majority of the beginning, but it too opened up and got kind of hot. We obviously didn't make it up to Dog Lake (where the trail ended) but it was fun nonetheless. The coolest thing about the trip was that it was free, free national trail day or something, we planned it without planning it. When we got home Dave went to watch the BYU game at his dad's and I went to women's conference.
(I just had to show Benji pulling out his faces at me in the car at the gas station before we left. That stinker)

Speaking of Women's conference (or I guess the General Relief Society Meeting) it was really great. President Monson's talk was my absolute favorite. He told us in no uncertain terms to quit judging each other. We as women have a tendency to do that, me included (I know I like to think I'm perfect sometimes, but unfortunately I can get caught up in the world). He is just so funny and so real. I really love him and I'm glad he is our prophet. His message just hit home and I'm glad I went to the meeting.
