Staycation Day 1

So Dave took the week off and since we don't have a lot of money to go anywhere we decided to stay home and have a staycation. (The perks being you get to sleep in your own bed.) So last night we hit the State Fair. It was family night and we had a 2 for 1 coupon, adults tickets were discounted to $7 kids 12 and under were free. It only cost us a whopping $7 to get in. (Of course that doesn't count all the food and entertainment, but hey a deal is a deal and I'll take it.)

So first we went through and saw the animals. The cows were a big hit. I felt sorry for the ones who were full of milk especially. Having milked a few calves of my own I know the pain from engorgement and it hurt just looking at them.

Next we went for a pony ride. I wasn't sure if James wasn't going to be into it because last time he was so scared when we tried to put him on a pony, but this time he threw the biggest tantrum when we took him off. He was in Heaven and Benji always loves a good pony ride.

While we were riding ponies we saw a train riding around and of course the kids had to have a ride. So we had to walk all the way back to the entrance to get on. It was fun though. Dave hopped on with them.

Of course we had yummy food and Benji and James went in a fun house. Towards the end of the night we were sitting there and along comes this 7 or 8 foot robot. It was cool and creepy at the same time. We tried to get Benji to take a picture with it, but he wouldn't have it. Instead, he took this picture of him for us.

It was a really fun night, best I've had at the fair in all the years I've gone. Capped off with a musical performance by these guys who write pirate music. Benji was dancing a lot (he really enjoyed the pirate songs) and James and Grandma were getting it down. (By the way my parents came, thank goodness because they helped keep the kids in line. Thanks Mom & Dad.)
